How Solar Works

Ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) solar farms are a key component of our renewable energy infrastructure. These solar farms consist of multiple solar panels installed on open land areas, typically in rural or suburban locations. The solar panels, composed of photovoltaic cells, convert sunlight into electricity through the photovoltaic effect. As sunlight hits the panels, it excites electrons within the cells, generating a direct current (DC) electrical charge. This DC electricity is then converted into alternating current (AC) power using inverters, making it compatible with the local grid. The generated electricity is then fed into the local utility grid, where it mixes with power from other sources. Residents can subscribe to solar energy through their current energy utility by participating in community solar programs or signing up for a solar subscription plan. These programs allow residents to benefit from solar energy without needing to install panels on their own properties. By subscribing, residents receive credits on their energy bills for the solar energy generated by the solar farm, effectively reducing their reliance on fossil fuels and supporting a cleaner, more sustainable energy future

Site Eligbility

Community Solar LLC employs a through due diligence process to ensure a site meets the specifications needed to install a successful solar farm. These landscapes range from brownfields to agricultural land.

Site Control

After a site is selected and has been deemed eligible, a lease agreement between us and the landowner is drafted and executed before any permitting work begins.

Permissions & Construction

Once site control is established, we pursue all necessary environmental studies, glare hazard analysis, and jurisdictional permissions to develop our projects safely and on schedule.

Utility Connection

After construction, our projects are officially energized by being 'plugged' into the grid, supplying any participating utility customer to opt-in to solar energy without having to bear the upfront cost of installation or permitting on their own property.

Solar On!

Solar farms can be in operation for anywhere between thirty to fifty years. After which, the site is carefully restored to its previous condition or better.
